Ability to disable bold formatting (asterisks) in AI-generated notes
N
Nat Dela Cruz
The AI frequently outputs bold formatting using asterisks (e.g. ****), which is not suitable for clinical documentation. This requires manual cleanup every time. I would like a system-level option to disable bold formatting entirely, rather than relying on template instructions that do not consistently apply. A backend or global setting would improve workflow and save time. (submitting this on behalf of the user request via Intercom: shahswar.zearmal1@icloud.com)

Having the headings Bold is in fact a good feature which should continue, the issue which must be addressed is not to have Asterisks around bold text when copying and pasting from Heidi transcription note

Hi Nat,
Could you please provide more details on when do you see the **? Is it when you copy from Heidi generated note, ask Heidi response, or maybe something else? We would appreciate it if you can provide us with steps to replicate the issue you are facing so we can triage it properly.

Tarek from Heidi - I get this issue with the 'ask heidi' generated repsonses but not twith the generated notes.

Thanks Paul Grinzi! That was my assumption in a similar comment below. Instead of copying directly from ask Heidi, could you please try the create document or replace note options and then either export or copy from there.

I agree. I have this issue but I also just leave it

Thanks for sharing this — totally get how the asterisk-based bold (****) would be annoying in clinical documentation if you’re having to clean it up every time.
We’ll pass the request along to the team: a system-level/global setting to disable bold formatting entirely (rather than relying on template instructions).
To help us understand the best way to implement it, could you share:
1) Where are you pasting the note (EHR/editor) where the asterisks cause issues?
2) Do you want
all
rich text removed (bold/italics/highlighting), or specifically bold only?3) If you can, a quick screenshot/example of an output where this happens most often.
(Also noted this was submitted on behalf of the user via Intercom.)

Elias NasserAgreed! t's super annoying for bold formatting to be surrounded by , which the EMR is obviously not reading. It might be used in markup text I think.

Hi Elias Nasser
It seems in this example you are copying output from ask Heidi to somewhere. Is that correct? If that's the case, if you use the create document or replace note options, there won't be formatting issues. I am happy to set up a quick meeting to go over the issue with you.

Tarek from Heidi it only happen when you ask a question: for example asking it to write a referral letter. You can see the bold type in heidi output. Once you copy it outside of heidi it seems to have enclosing to code for the bold I assume. Sort of markup language or something.

Tarek from Heidi thanks for that tip Tarek

Thanks S J! I believe that is a similiar workflow that others in this post have reported. I will make sure this is communicated to our engineering team but for now using the create document or replace note options will resolve these formatting issues
