There are many times when it is necessary to have multiple sessions on the go at one time, pausing and moving back and forth between them.
For example, when doing inpatient rounds I have an active session for each patient and moving from one session to the next as I receive report from nursing about each patient in sequence. When we move to the next patient, I pause the current session to resume and add to later and at the end of report I have a dozen active incomplete sessions with transcription in them. I then go to the bedside and examine and speak with each patient in sequence, resuming each session and adding to the existing transcription as I do. Once this is done I complete the sessions and generate the notes.
This workflow works reasonably well with the app or the web interface but is incompatible with the Remote, which is permanently locked to a single session until that session is completed.
It would be helpful have the ability to merge sessions retrospectively.
One would simply use the remote to transcribe each partial session using the remote button to start and stop transcription (i.e. session 1A is nursing report for patient A, 1B is nursing report for patient B, then 2A is bedside encounter for patient A, etc. ) then retrospectively merge 1A and 2A into a single session for patient A.
