We are currently working through a wider upgrade to the way tasks are being handled and I passed on this feedback to the relevant team.

You are right that whereas there are possibilities to augment whether or not you want to see generated tasks/ generate tasks in the first place the user should also be able to control archiving behaviour.

Would an interface that surfaces tasks be helpful alternatively, where you as end-user can then select which ones to protect from being archived? This would prevent the list of previous task to grow exponentially but still maintains your ability to prevent mass-archiving of relevant tasks.
