Clinical note iteration is very important in the diagnostic process. In Heidi, you can place the clinical note side by side with the EMR, and unlike the iPhone version, you can see the note in real time while dictating, which is helpful.
However, there are times when it would be useful to manually correct the note directly in the Heidi window and have the system detect those edits and regenerate or re-synthesize the note accordingly. For example, a medication like "atacand" might be transcribed incorrectly, or an item may not have been captured accurately. In those situations, it is often easier to correct the text directly while reviewing the note.
The ability to iterate the note in real time — combining dictation with manual editing and automatic re-synthesis — would significantly enhance the workflow and improve accuracy.
