Would love to be able to change the font style and size to match our documentation format.

I prefer to adjust the font format for the SELECTED TEXT in the body of the notes. ie. adjusting the size or change the font type in certain paragraph. Currently I can only change between italic, bold, underline for the selected text. "Default export font" function does not apply for me as I do not need to create documents. I only need to copy and paste to PMS.

Basic document formatting - font, font size, paragraph justification

Its so tedious doing this stuff after the note or document compilation. The content generation is game changing but having to spend time re-adjusting font and spacing in the generated word processing document is a massive pain. Please can we have some options to define these things. The header/footer stuff is a step in the right direction but less useful. Ideally I'd like to be able to smarten up the generation bit by setting some logic such as 'adjust margins of output to fit on a side of A4 unless font size needs to drop below 10 point otherwise split on two pages' etc

Hi Nick,
Thank you for the detailed feedback and being so generous with your time! Completely understand your frustration with the current note editor as it is quite limited when it comes to formatting as you've described.
We are currently working on improvements in this area, and we will definitely keep your feedback front of mind as we do. Separately, our team is also looking at improving the way information can be taken, sent, and exported outside of Heidi.
We’ll keep you in the loop as these improvements make their way into the product.
Warm regards,
Amanthi

Thanks for taking the time to write this up — totally hear you. The content generation can be a huge time-saver, so having to then wrestle with fonts/spacing/margins multiple times a day is frustrating.
This is really helpful feedback, and I’ll share it with the team. A couple quick questions so we understand what would make the biggest difference:
1) Where are you noticing the formatting pain most — in the exported Word doc, printed/PDF output, or inside Heidi’s editor?
2) What “defaults” would you want to set (e.g., font family/size, line spacing, paragraph spacing, justification, margins, header styles), and do they need to vary by template/document type?
3) For the A4 logic you mentioned, is the main goal “always fit to 1 page if possible,” or “keep readability (min 10pt) even if it spills to 2 pages”?
If you can share an example export (or a screenshot of what you get vs what you want), that’d help us pinpoint the right controls to add.

Heidi Team thanks. I'd like all the formatting to be configured within Heidi (simple fairly short list of standard font type faces such as Ariel, Times New Roman), font size say 9-12 point and ability to specify paragraph justification left or fully justified and a selection on margin sizes. The biggest issues is having WYSIWIG - I want the pdf and Word output to be faithful to the settings stipulated in Heidi. Ideally an ability to 'preview' before print or export and wants printed will be faithful to the document formatting. Headers and footers are less important to most and these can be specified in the Template to a large degree. The next step after all this would be for instance to layer in some more professional document layout tools such as stipulating the positioning of letter recipient address and contact details. Ultimately to mirror closely the letter layout of a typical, professional piece of clinical correspondence without having to rely on additional word processing applications.

It would be good to have more note and text formatting options to match what is available in our EHR systems. That would allow for easier presentation and separation of information in different sections of the note.
