I'd rather this were worded more colloquially eg
'this happened about a year ago and improved without treatment'

The personalization option works relatively well with this sort of thing. Within the document, change the text to what you want it to look like, and the personalisation may pick it up and learn it as a rule. If you spend some time doing this over time, it does seem to shape the language to something that fits more closely to one's natural speaking voice.
