When I want to link the session to a patient profile, the first line is "Create a profile for XXX (Pt name)", then there are the suggested profiles underneath. It happens frequently that I mistakenly choose to create a new profile, rather than choose the line below. Currently, there is no way to merge the duplicate profiles. I would be great if there was a confirmatory step when the system wants to create a duplicate profile.

I have the same problem: I want to merge different sessions for the same patient when I mistakenly created a new profile for the same patient; how can I do this?

1) What fields are you typically matching on when you notice it’s a duplicate: I usually copy patient's name from EMR and paste it in Heidi (by clicking the link button). No more info is shared.
2) When duplicates happen, is it usually the same clinician creating them, or across multiple team members? 
Same, It's me!
3) If you have an example (even anonymised) or a screenshot of the “Create a profile for…” line vs the suggested profiles list, could you share it? That would help us see exactly where the mis-click happens.
Since the create a new profile with the pasted name is the first option, the moment I see the name, I click on it :) rather than scroll down and see the name in the suggested list. So, If the suggested names were at the top, most likely I will click that.

A confirmation step when someone’s about to create a new patient profile despite close matches, plus a way to merge duplicates, makes a lot of sense. I’ll share this with the team.

1) What fields are you typically matching on when you notice it’s a duplicate (name only, DOB, phone/email, a custom patient identifier, etc.)?
2) When duplicates happen, is it usually the same clinician creating them, or across multiple team members?
3) If you have an example (even anonymised) or a screenshot of the “Create a profile for…” line vs the suggested profiles list, could you share it? That would help us see exactly where the mis-click happens.
