paste text with bold formatting rather than markdown asterisks (**Plan:**)

When asking follow up questions, and clicking on Copy (copied to clipboard), the bolded words paste as asterisks. I made sure the Microsoft word settings have the Bold and italic auto formatting button checked off.
For example these words were bold in the answer when asking Heidi, but paste like this:

- Iron Supplementation:
The workaround is to draft as new document, then copy with formatting but seems less efficient to do it this way.

Heidi makes a great note for me but when I copy and paste it into Epic it loses its formatting and looks bad. My bold headings turn into *** etc.

Thanks for flagging this — totally get how annoying it is to copy something that looks bold in Heidi and have it paste as markdown asterisks in Word.
A couple quick questions so we can share the right detail with the team:
1) When you click
Copy
, where are you pasting it (Word desktop, Word Online, Outlook, an EHR field, etc.)?2) Does it happen everywhere, or only in certain destinations?
3) If you’re able, could you share a screenshot of the Heidi output + what it looks like after pasting (and which browser you’re using)?
We’ll pass this along — it sounds like the clipboard is copying in markdown/plain text rather than rich text formatting, and your example is super helpful.

- I would like my headings such as CC, HPI, PMH, PSH, etc to remain bold.
- The bold in my headings makes the note look like CCand generally unpleasing to the eye and hard to read
- I use Allscripts/Altera in the office and this does not happen

Great to hear your perspective, Amy McEntaffer! I have a few more questions for you:
- What specific formatting elements are most important for you to retain when copying notes into Epic?
- Are there any specific sections or types of content that consistently lose formatting when pasted into Epic?
- Have you noticed if the formatting issue occurs with other EHR systems or just with Epic?
