New UI causes trouble to user and should be asked if wants to get it

I feel like people who don't use the app day to day are coming up with "improvements" and inflicting them (no other word) on users, whether we want them or not. I've been a big proponent of Heidi for 2 years now, but my company wants us to try COVet, and after the last couple of months of issues, I'm inclined to change, hence I haven't renewed my subsscription. Heidi has taken a bad turn backwards
People don't want change. When they find a tool that works, they want it to keep working. I don't need platitudes, I need the tool to work, not to have to learn new skills. All I need from a toilet is to flush,m I don't want to become a plumber.

I agree wholeheartedly. Please remember that the users are generally clinicians who are dedicating close to 100% of their cognitive reserve to interacting with and managing their patients/clients. It is frustrating to start work for the day and find that your tools(s) have changed since yesterday, with no notice and no consent. So the user now has to spend time and cognitive energy working out how to use the "new and improved tool" whether they want it or not. I use Gentu as well as Heidi and they do the same thing (making constant unnecessary changes, like changing colours and the way icons look).
It is distracting to have software constantly changing (sometimes even within the course of a day) when, in my opinion, there was nothing wrong with the previous version. What is with the obsession in constantly changing the layout? I don't think the developers appreciate how irritating this is.
For example, with the recently changed new session layout my comments are:
1) the patient name area is small and one of very many areas along the header area. It should be bigger and bolded.
2) When I click on the area to enter the patient name, the cursor frequently automatically skips down into the context area at the bottom of the screen. I often don't realise this until after I have finished writing the name, and so then I have to repeat the process again until it enters the name in the correct place (this is a bug that I reported months ago which hasn't yet been fixed).
3) I then have to do another mouse click to choose whether to make the patient a new patient or an unlinked session. I always want to choose an unlinked session so why can't I just make this a default and not have to do this EVERY SINGLE TIME?
4) There are too many clicks required just to get started: one on the plus to commence (which is also too small and should be bigger); several to just get the patient name entered; a choice between linked or not; and then I need to go all the way over to the opposite corner of the screen and click to actually get started.
Hope this feedback is helpful.

Hey Anthony Zambelli can you share more details on what could be improved for your workflow?
David Tunchon thanks for sharing. Can you share more details whether you're referring to the list of sessions or the text on the note page?

Merged in a post:
"upgraded" user interface is horrible!

The new user interface is VERY frustrating, it text now appears as a column with no more than 10-15 words per line.
