Heidi remote...Review.

My experience with the Heidi Remote over the first two days has been mixed. The device itself is compact, lightweight, and more convenient than the third-party microphone I previously used.
I primarily work in a busy Emergency Department setting, where I often see multiple patients concurrently and need reliable, efficient dictation. During clinical use, I experienced several reliability issues. On multiple occasions, recordings appeared to be captured (including one session of approximately 10 minutes), but no transcription was available when opening the note. Attempts to regenerate notes sometimes failed, with “retry note” or “note too short” messages. I confirmed microphone permissions were enabled and contacted Heidi support with the relevant session IDs.
I continued testing the device on day two and encountered similar issues, including incomplete dictation capture, missing portions of notes, and workflow interruptions when moving between patient sessions.
At present, I have reverted to my previous microphone ($50), which has been more consistent. The Heidi Remote has clear potential from a hardware and convenience perspective, but based on my early experience, further improvements in reliability and session workflow would be beneficial. In particular, better support for switching between multiple active patient sessions without needing to complete note generation first would be helpful in a busy ED environment.

Thanks for sharing this, Yusuf Joseph, MBChB, CCFP (EM) — really helpful context (especially in a busy ED workflow). Sorry to hear the Remote’s been unreliable for you with missing/partial captures and the “retry note” / “note too short” behaviour. We’ll dig into the sessions you’ve already sent through to Support and investigate what’s going on here, and we’ll follow up once we’ve got more clarity.
