Every time I start a new session, there is a "Set your microphone, hit record, and we’ll generate a perfect note" dialog (I will call this dialog 1). Heidi begins recording.
As, by definition, the consultation will not have started yet, there will only be background noise, no conversation. This causes Heidi to display the "Hold on, we can’t hear you!" warning after just a few seconds (I will call this dialog 2)
I understand the use case for dialog 2, as an input problem could lead to data loss. However, there are 2 problems with the current approach:
If I know what I'm doing, and I'm sure the microphone is working, then this is just disrupting my workflow. I either have to dismiss
two
dialog boxes to get started with each session (a few seconds apart), or I have to talk to myself to keep Heidi happy.
If the user isn't paying attention to the screen, they might hit dialog 1, start the consultation, and then at the end of the consultation find that they are stuck at dialog 2 with no recording (this isn't theoretical, it has happened to a colleague - they didn't notice because their screen is turned away from view during the consultation due to the way the room is set up).
This could be addressed by changing the wording of dialog 1 (something like "We need to hear some audio to know that things are working - maybe start by confirming patient details?").
