Link all sessions without pasting into context box

Pulling patient data from the EHR (Athena in my case) would be a massive improvement. Previous notes would be most helpful, and would solve the issue of past notes saved in Heidi not being up to date if edits were later made after transferring to the EHR. Pulling in other documents from the EHR (such as a new patient referral with the referring providers note) would be great for context as well.

Really struggling with the linked sessions feature, as I cannot get Heidi to distinguish historical info from the current session. Despite strong language in my template, heidi keeps including old physical exam findings from linked sessions that are very much incorrect and not reflective of the current assessment - this renders the feature almost useless since it is faster to just input the basic context that I want Heidi to know (eg. reason for assessment, whether they are postop, what treatments were tried) then to completely edit and fix the physical exam each time. It also keeps pulling in data like PMHx from linked sessions despite explicit template instructions to exclude it unless discussed in the transcript

It's important for heidi to distinguish between past notes that have been added to the context and current consult. It would be useful to have
- permanent context,
- historical context - including reports, previous notes,
- current context that is relevant to todays presentation.

Hey everyone! 👋
Love seeing all the Context feedback. Quick question:
What if Heidi automatically pulled relevant clinical data from your EMR into each session?
Think previous notes, current meds, active diagnoses, recent labs...all pre-populated when you start recording, no manual importing needed.
Quick gut check:
- How much time do you (or your staff) spend pre-charting now?
- For your most common visit types, what clinical data would be most valuable to auto-pull?
- Any concerns with automatic data importing?
This would initially work with our direct EMR integrations (Epic, Athena, Cerner, etc.) and could be huge for note quality + workflow.
Thoughts? Drop feedback below or upvote if this would save you time!

How much time do you (or your staff) spend pre-charting now? - A lot. Automatically pulling relevant clinical data from EMR would be a BIG improvement.
For your most common visit types, what clinical data would be most valuable to auto-pull? - GP referral letter, blood/radiology/pathology/lab results, previous clinic letters.

Joe from Heidi As a licensed marriage and family therapist, it would be helpful for it to pull in active diagnosis, type of therapy being used, previous homework assignment, identified patient goals.
Also, it would be nice to have a pre-populated CONTEXT area that permanently is there.

I spend a lot of time pre-loading the context. Last consult, results, previous careplan, specialist letters (i'd love to add a screen shot of a letter for transcription as a lot of ours are scanned faxes). The ability to organise and retrieve patient info is a powerful use of AI for clinicians totally separate from transcription.
I have a new patient who has 5 year history of undiagnosed back pain with a multitude of consults, specialist reviews and tests. trying to work out how to get it all into AI to summarise and output chronologically..

Joe from Heidi In order to make my workflow during clinic visits faster, I have to spend a ton of time precharting, making sure relevant things are in the template in Cerner, and it's very time consuming. (I don't have Heidi integrated sadly, and my EHR is old (Cerner) and the university will probably not permit integration...ever.) I would love if the most recent visit HPI and A/P could be automatically loaded and then I would be able to update with relevant changes and then be able to add in new diagnoses or concerns addressed in the visit.
There are certain things in my work that don't change and we have to put in every visit, so I end up copy/pasting. It would be great if those could always be imported.
I'd also love to be able to customize the integration. I see a lot of people with diabetes and I'd like some sections of my templates to pull forward from the last note, and other sections that would be left blank for me/heidi to fill in from the actual visit. It would be great if there were a way to tell the integration specifics on how to work based on visit type.

Joe from Heidi I see the intent with something like that and could absolutely be useful. It's perhaps a separate circumstance that I am an individual user (part of a practice but the practice/group is not integrated so going through the foundation of the EHR/EMR would not help in my case, but it sounds like it would be useful for others so in that sense I would vote up the idea!

Hi Theo, thanks for working on the persistent context option. For me it doesn't really solve the problem of needing that information displayed for each session. If there's a way of displaying the persistent context, that would be perfect. To elaborate on the purpose - I want to be able to see the names of the client's partner, children and other relevant people, DOB, the session number etc. It's more for me than for the notes that get generated. But thanks for this development, if there's a way to display the contents (and even edit it directly in the displayed box) that would be perfect. Thanks!

Hey team,
We’ve just released the follow-up to this request — you can now add persistent context for patients directly within the patient information modal.
Here’s what we have now:
- Session Context Window: Use this for information specific to a single session (e.g., files, entire previous sessions for that patient, or plain text notes).
- Persistent Patient Context: Use this for key patient attributes or details you’d like to be included as context for every session linked to that patient.
Check out the video below for a walkthrough of the feature, and please share any feedback!
Best,
Theo

Hi Theo, this is great thank you. However in the Persistent Patient Context area, there is a checkbox enabled feature to remember patient consent for future sessions. This option should not be enabled(or ghosted out), if we have set the team setting to require patient consent pop up at the start of every session.
Thanks Peter

This is good. more than 500 words would be useful.

Merged in a post:
Patient Profile Persistent Context Area that is used in all new sessions
P
Peter Goodwin
Specific persistent context area in the patient profile for long term conditions and specific history ( smoker, high Blood pressure, etc), that is then automatically added to the context area of any new session for this patient. Thus included in the notes etc.

I am using the session linking in Beta but is there an option somewhere to make it default to link prior sessions ? (so I don't have to open context and click box every time)
