Select template at start of visit

Sometimes I want to use different "note" templates - e.g. for phone calls vs. in person visits, or for visits with multiple issues vs. single issue. Right now I have to wait for the default note template to be created, then regenerate a new note with my preferred template for that visit. It would seem to make more sense if I could change the note template for that encounter prior to hitting "stop recording" so it just generates using the template I want the first time.

Released to all given positive feedback. Feedback is still divided squarely down the middle on whether Context or Note ought to be the default. However, we will probably make that a preference at some point.
Noted all the other points of feedback on this thread. Closing this won't bury them - we've logged a good chunk of these.

Mo from Heidi Has something changed to make this stop working? Over the last week I've had approximately 50% of the time where I'm able to select the template but the other 50% it has the old screen where I cannot. Today it's been 100% of the time unable to select it at the start/during the consult.

I started using the Beta for this yesterday. It is a great feature and is working well for me so far. Thanks

We're currently testing this with a random 50% cohort of users. If you're part of the 50, you'll be able to select your template before your visit begins.

Some folks have expressed a preference to default to the Context tab, in contradistinction to the Note tab. Let me know if you have a strong opinion on this.

Mo from Heidi It is nice to default to the Context Tab in case you want to add something during a consult. But it’s still important that once you hit “Stop Transcribing” it jumps over to the note tab - there was a short run a few days ago when it would just stay on Context and transcribe in the background. For me it’s all about reducing clicks and interaction. The best consults are the ones where I hit Start, then stop, I review, then copy and paste and that’s it.

Jonathan Lloyd: Noted, thank you

Mo from Heidi Ideally the split screen function can be used for context, transcription (including in the future live transcription!), and notes by default.

Agreed, I had the same issue a few days ago where it wouldn't switch to note after stop transcribing and it was an extra step making it more cumbersome to use. Keeping this is vital

Would be another time saver which is a core part of why I joined Heidi

This will be great!

What a great idea! I use a range of templates and it would be most efficient if I could select the template before each session. Roz H

Yes. I wish it didn't auto generate a note. It would be better for us to just select what we want.

Thanks for bearing with us all. We shifted the roadmap around, derailing our original planning. My apologies Here is a part of the designs the engineers received this week (see image). We're 2 weeks away from bringing this to you. You will find where it reads "SOAP note" a dropdown that'll let you select a template at the start of the visit.
On launch, there will be no ability to modify your defaults from that dropdown. Let us know if that's something you'd like.

Mo from Heidi That looks great! Personally having the options to change defaults like the "voice" or "brain" side are important enough to warrant screen space on that first pop-up.

Mo from Heidi I think changing the voice and brain on the pop-up would be useful. I have developed some templates that I prefer to use "detailed" voice with rather than "goldilocks" which I use for most. It might be nice to be able to set a default voice and brain for each template.

Matthew Roberts Completely agree with Yellow Windmill!

I agree, it is very frustrating and wastes time.
