Select template at start of visit

Sometimes I want to use different "note" templates - e.g. for phone calls vs. in person visits, or for visits with multiple issues vs. single issue. Right now I have to wait for the default note template to be created, then regenerate a new note with my preferred template for that visit. It would seem to make more sense if I could change the note template for that encounter prior to hitting "stop recording" so it just generates using the template I want the first time.

Please move this up the priority list, it seems like an easy fix that would save me and others a lot of time and frustration. I am annoyed multiple times every day watching a note get created and then just immediately regenerating another note using the template I actually wanted. It seems like such an easy fix... I can change the "voice" during the visit, I can change the "brain", I can even EDIT the template... but I can't change the template! The closest solution I can come up with is just to change the default template every time, which I may start doing, but it seems like it would be so easy to make it so that the desired template can be selected prior to generating the note. Also seems like a lot of compute is being wasted producing unwanted notes!

I'd love to see this feature as well, I do a combination of Travel, Worker's compensation and General Practice consults and would love to be able to pre-define the template that Heidi uses on a session by session basis. Having to wait for it to create the note twice is cumbersome and time consuming.

At the moment this would also be my number one feature request (or at least the abort option before selecting the right template). Ideally I would also like to customise the brain/voice for each individual template

Matthew Roberts Have you tried going into Settings > Session Settings > Note Settings, and editing your default note template?

Dr. Mo Ismail from Heidi I don't think you understand what my issue is. I want to use different note templates for different visits. I already have my default note set to the template that I use most often. When I want to use another template for my note then I have to wait while it automatically makes a note with my default template and then regenerate a note with the template that I actually want for that particular visit.

Dr. Mo Ismail from Heidi ideally I would be able to select a template while making the audio recording during the visit, prior to it creating the note possibly also in the pop-up that comes before you start the recording (where are you select transcribe versus dictate and the language). If I didn't make any selection it would just default to my default template

Matthew Roberts: Understood. As an interim solution, would the ability to abort the note generation process immediately be an okay stopgap until we can come up with something more sophisticated?

Dr. Mo Ismail from Heidi oh yeah I thought of that too. That would be almost as good, just an extra click to stop the note generation but after that it would be the same process.

Matthew Roberts: I think so. It's not the most gorgeous UX of all time, but it'd get us 70% of the way there. I've linked this Canny post to our eng ticket for this. It'll let you know when we get it done. At worst, in the next month. Aspirationally, in the next 2 weeks.
